Hong Kong is famed for its spectacular skyline, world class shopping and simply fabulous hotels. It’s a vibrant, bustling city but a visit to Hong Kong can also include vast areas of countryside, idyllic beaches and tranquil fishing villages. There are also the exotic festivals and centuries old traditions, not forgetting of course the newly opened Disneyland, located 25 minutes from downtown on picturesque Lantau Island. A Hong Kong island tour takes about four hours and features bustling Stanley Market, Ocean Park and Victoria Park which offers great views. A sanpan ride is great for getting up close to the boat dwellers of the city as they go about their business. Hong Kong has a great variety of attractions for all tastes and age groups. Here’s just a sample: Hong Kong Wetland, Asia world Expo, Avenue of Stars, Maritime Museum, New Lantau Tour and the Journey to Enlightenment and the Wisdom Path (which is a 25 minute cable car ride up the mountainside to the village of Ngong Ping and the giant Buddha and Po Lin Monastery). The markets in the city are excellent value. They sell just about anything and you can haggle to your heart’s content for the best bargains. Don’t forget to join in the public sessions of Tai Chi in the local parks. Very therapeutic! The crime rate is low in Hong Kong and I felt very safe.
